Thais is from Piauí state, where she undertook environmental education work at the Floriano municipal public school during her undergraduate studies, through an educational action against the trafficking of wild birds in the region. She was a professor at the Instituto Estadual de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Maranhão (IEMA) campus Matões from 2020 to 2025; since April 2025, she has been a full-time professor at the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Amapá (IFAP) campus Laranjal do Jari.
She was a master’s student at the Piacentini Lab from 2018 to 2020, when she developed a project on phylogeny, phylogeography and taxonomy of hummingbirds of the Chionomesa fimbriata/lactea complex, in collaboration with the Animal Cytogenetics and Genetics Laboratory (LABGEN). In parallel with her master’s degree, she also developed research on the distribution and taxonomy of Tunchiornis species, having been awarded for her work presented at the 25th Brazilian Ornithology Congress, in 2018.
